New Delhi: By showing dreams of development and giving loans to small countries and then taking control of them is China’s regular practice, now Sri Lanka has given a big blow to them. Sri Lanka refused to accept the consignment of about 20,000 tonnes of fertilizer from China. Sri Lanka has attributed this to the poor quality of organic manure. This decision of Sri Lanka has caused a big loss to China and a diplomatic tussle has started between the two countries over fertilizer.
Colombo had entered into an agreement with Qingdao Siwin Bio-Tech Group to recognize Sri Lanka as the world’s first fully organic farming country. This tech group is a Chinese enterprise that produces fertilizer from seaweed. Now when a consignment of fertilizer was sent to Sri Lanka from China, Sri Lanka refused to take it.
China blacklisted the bank
China has been completely shocked by this move of Sri Lanka. Dragon has blacklisted a Sri Lankan bank to take its revenge. There is a massive protest in Sri Lanka against this fertilizer sent by China. Sri Lankan scientists have also started opposing China’s fertilizer.
Bacteria found in fertilizer
On the side of Colombo, it has been said that the samples taken from the cargo for the examination have found microbes that can be very harmful to agriculture. The Director-General of the Sri Lanka Agriculture Department said that the fertilizer samples clearly show that organic manure is not sterile and will cause significant damage to the crop. He said that in this we have found such types of bacteria which are very harmful to crops like carrots and potatoes.
China not paid
Since the goods were not yet allowed to be unloaded, the state-run fertilizer company was ordered by the court to immediately stop the $9 million payment to the state-owned People’s Bank. After stopping the payment, the Chinese embassy put the Sri Lankan bank on the blacklist. At present, nothing has been said from the Chinese Embassy regarding the quality of fertilizers.
On the other hand, Qingdao Siwin has accused Sri Lanka of defaming Chinese enterprises and the Chinese government. At the same time, Qingdao has demanded compensation of $ 8 million from the Sri Lankan government, accusing the company of tarnishing the image of the company.
