Kolhapur: A shocking case has come to light from Kolhapur in Maharashtra. Farmers left alive snakes inside government offices on Sunday as part of the agitation demanding electricity for 12 hours a day. It is being told that earlier on Saturday, the farmers had left the snake on the table of a senior official of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MahaVitaran). After this, he also left another snake inside the office of the District Collector. A case has been registered against unknown people in connection with the matter.
In fact, farmers are generally releasing the snakes found in their fields. They are demanding a power supply during the day for safe irrigation of their fields. According to reports, the farmers involved in the protest are claiming that, when they go to fetch water in the fields at night, they have to suffer snake bites and attacks by wild animals. Due to the high demand for electricity from industries, the electricity department supplies electricity to the irrigation pumps at night.
Meanwhile, the farmers’ agitation outside the divisional office of Mahavitaran in Kolhapur and Sangli districts – led by farmer leader Raju Shetty – entered its fifth day on Sunday. Two state ministers Hasan Mushrif and Satej Patil have spoken to Shetty and assured him that they will discuss the issue with Power Minister Nitin Raut.
