Yangon: In Myanmar’s military regime, restrictions on information increased further on Thursday, and Broadband Services are not available on many networks. In some areas, authorities have also started confiscating satellite dishes used to facilitate international news broadcasting.
Protests against the military coup in Myanmar on February 1 continued on Thursday, with 11 people killed by security forces a day earlier. It is not yet clear what makes the interruption of Internet services temporary for at least two service providers MBT and Infinite Networks.
MBT said that its service was disrupted due to the breakdown of the line between Yangon and Mandalay. These two are the two largest cities in the country. However, internet users have been complaining for this widespread interruption in services over the past week. The military junta began blocking Internet services since the coup. The use of satellite TV as a source of information is also under threat.
