Chennai: Famous playback singer Vani Jairam is no more with us. The singer passed away at the age of 78. There is a wave of mourning in the music industry due to the news of his death. On January 25, 2023, Vani Jayaram was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award by the Government of India. Apart from this, she received the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer 3 times.

The singer had completed 50 years in the playback singing industry. She had recorded more than 10 thousand songs in 18 languages. Tamil Nadu’s Thousand Lights police officials say playback singer Vani Jayaram has been found dead at her residence in Chennai, reports news agency ANI.

However, the reason for her death is not yet clear. Vani Jayaram was born in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. She belonged to a musician family. He started his career in 1971 as a playback singer. Vani Jayaram had worked with many other famous music composers including OP Nayyar, RD Burman, Madan Mohan, KV Mahadevan, Chakravarthy, Satyam, and Ilaiyaraaja.
