Dubai: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was appointed as the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday. The rulers in the UAE announced that they have appointed Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President.
State news agency ‘WAM’ said that the decision was taken in a meeting of seven sheikhs of the country. It is worth noting that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has passed away. He was also the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. President Zayed Al Nahyan had been ill for several days. He breathed his last at the age of 73.

The Government of India has declared a day of national mourning on 14 May 2022 in honour of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, India’s flag will fly at half-mast on Saturday in honour of Sheikh Khalifa And there will be no official entertainment on that day.
40 days of national mourning in the UAE
The government of the UAE has declared 40 days of national mourning on the death of Zayed Al Nahyan. The report said that flags in the country will be flown at half-mast. Apart from this, there will be a holiday for three days in all private and government sectors of the country.
Important role in the development of the country
According to media reports, Sheikh Khalifa was born in 1948. He came to power in 2004 and has been holding the presidency since then. His father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the President before him. He was the head of the country from 1971 to November 2004. Sheikh Khalifa was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed. He had focused more on the development of the country during his tenure. At the same time, Sheikh Khalifa was instrumental in reorganizing the administration of the UAE and Abu Dhabi and implemented a number of reforms.
