New Delhi: The second wave of Coronavirus has created panic all over the country. This time not only a record number of people are getting infected with the corona every day, but there is also a huge increase in the number of serious hospitalized patients. When Corona was on peak in August last year, the number of serious patients was not so much, but this time the situation is deteriorating rapidly. Let me tell you that on an average, more than a thousand new cases are coming out in India every day for the last one week.
According to the latest data, 4.5 percent of the patients are currently on oxygen support across the country. 2.3% of patients are admitted in ICU. In addition, 0.4% of the patients are placed on ventilators. According to the English newspaper Times of India, all these figures were presented by Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday in the Group of Ministers meeting. This meeting was called to discuss the current situation of Corona across the country.
Things changed in 7 months
Now, take a look at the figures of mid-August last year as well. This was the period when most cases of corona were coming from all over the country. At that time, 2.4 percent of the patients were on oxygen support. While only 1.8% of the patients were in ICU during that time. Also 0.2% were on ventilator. In the current era, all these figures have doubled.
Heavy increase in active case
During the past few weeks, there has been a huge increase in the number of Corona patients. Due to this, the number of active patients has also increased considerably. On Thursday, the number of active patients across the country was more than 9.8 lakhs. This figure is 6.5 lakh more than 13 August last year. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has also said that during the last week, no new case of the corona has been reported from 149 districts of the country. Whereas in the last 14 days, no new case of the corona has come out from 8 districts. Apart from this, no new patients have been found from 63 districts within the last 28 days.
