
Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, terrorists on Friday shot dead a sarpanch who was elected as an independent. Officials gave this information. He said that the terrorists killed Manzoor Ahmed Bangru in Gosbagh in the Pattan area. Bangru was taken to the hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.
It may be mentioned here that in the last three days, Bangaroo is the second victim of targeted killings of non-soldiers by terrorists. Earlier, terrorists killed a local Satish Singh in Kulgam district on Wednesday. Officials said that attacks on civilians by terrorists have increased in the last two weeks. A police spokesman said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law in connection with the murder of the sarpanch.
“The investigation of the case is in progress and the authorities are working continuously to establish the circumstances of this terror crime. The entire area has been cordoned off and the search operation is on.”
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and political parties have condemned the killing. Sinha said, “I strongly condemn the attack on Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmed Bangru, those guilty of committing this heinous act will be punished. My condolences are with the bereaved family in this time of grief.”

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Another targeted murder, another family mourning this evening. This never-ending cycle of violence is heartbreaking. My condolences to the family of Manzoor Bangru. May they be blessed with heaven.”
The PDP and BJP have also condemned the killing. A PDP spokesperson tweeted, “Saddened by the news of the murder of Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmed Bangru in Pattan. Why the killing of sarpanches continues despite several security assessments, keeping Srinagar at a safe place.” BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said he strongly condemned the “brutal killing” of Bangaru.
