New Delhi: A few days before the proposed session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot met former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday. According to party sources, in this meeting with Rahul and Priyanka, Pilot spoke in detail and then the two top leaders of the party assured him to address their concerns. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka met for about one and a half hours before meeting the pilot. Later both of them left Rahul Gandhi’s residence and went to some other place and met the pilot.
The meeting took place a few days before the commencement of the assembly session, and now in Rajasthan, the upheaval within the Congress is expected to end. Significantly, the session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will begin on August 14, in which Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will try to prove a majority. After openly rebelling against Chief Minister Gehlot and not attending the legislature party meetings, the Congress high command had removed Pilot from the posts of state Congress Committee President and Deputy Chief Minister. With the rebel stance, Pilot has made it clear many times that he will not join the BJP.
