Kyiv: It has been 40 days since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Amidst the devastation everywhere, the Russian army is evacuating the areas around the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. As the Russian army retreats, the number of dead bodies on the streets is increasing. So far, bodies of 410 Ukrainians have been found in many areas including Bucha around Kyiv.

Kyiv’s public prosecutor Irina Venedikotva told that so far 410 bodies have been found, and this number is increasing rapidly. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba compared Russia to terrorist organizations. He has described the Russian army as worse than ISIS. He said that while retreating from the city of Bucha, Russian soldiers were killing civilians unnecessarily in anger, while the Ukrainians were not even opposing them.

  • Vladislav Nazrov, the official of Ukraine’s South Operational Command, said there were several attacks on the city. A plume of smoke was seen in the sky in many areas of Odessa city. The governor of the Central Poltava region, Dmitry Lunin, said the Kremenchuk oil refinery, located 350 kilometers northeast of Odesa, was completely destroyed in the attack.
  • Zelensky’s spokesman, Sergei Nikiforov, said Ukrainian soldiers had found the bodies of women, local officials, and children. Women were also raped by Russian soldiers and all of them were burnt.
  • Britain’s Foreign Minister Liege Truss said there was a lot of evidence of the actions of the invading forces in cities such as Irpin and Buka. London will fully support any investigation by the International Criminal Court.
  • The next round of talks will be held on Monday to end the war that has been going on for more than five weeks. Russia’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky said no draft had been prepared for a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
  • Olena Zelensky, the First Lady of Ukraine and wife of the President, has been quite vocal on social media. By sharing photos of mass graves and the scene of destruction in Ukraine, he also appealed to Western countries to take action and stop this genocide.
  • A large number of people are trapped in Mariupol. Efforts are on to save these people. The Red Cross said on Saturday that it was yet to reach the affected port city, where one lakh people are stranded.
  • Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar says that we have established our control over all areas of Kyiv. An adviser to the Ukrainian president urged people to be prepared for fighting in the southern and eastern parts of the country, including Mariupol.
  • The Ukrainian parliament has passed a law allowing the confiscation of Russian war supporters’ assets. The law also allows the confiscation of properties that not only belong to the Russian state or its residents, but also to non-residents who belong to the Russian government.
  • A senior Ukrainian official has accused the Russian military of using children as human shields. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanik said: “The enemy is using Ukrainian children as human shields while transporting their convoys, their vehicles.”
  • Seven people were killed and 34 injured in an attack on a Russian military residential area in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, on Sunday. On April 3, at around 6 p.m. local time, Russian invaders opened fire on residential buildings in Kharkiv’s Sloboda districts.
