Moscow: Russia said on Friday that it has announced the withdrawal from the Airspace Treaty allowing Surveillance Flights over military installations.
Significantly, America has already separated from this treaty. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that following the withdrawal of the US from the treaty last year, “the balance of interests of the nations signing the treaty has reduced to a great extent.”
The ministry said that US allies are not giving importance to Moscow’s efforts to maintain it after the US is out of the treaty. The treaty was aimed at restoring trust between Russia and Western countries and was signed by three dozen countries. Russia’s foreign ministry said that the country was initiating due process to withdraw from the treaty.
