Varanasi: After the end of the match between India and Pakistan in the Super Four of the Asia Cup, there was a ruckus in the Banaras Hindu University. After India’s five-wicket defeat, a debate broke out between Birla and the students of LBS Hostel over their displeasure and support for Indian cricket players. After which this debate turned into stone pelting and fighting. More than half a dozen students were injured in this stone pelting and fighting.

The information about the incident was given to the Varanasi Commissioner Police, after which the police reached the spot, pacifying the matter, and sent the students back to the hostel. At present, the atmosphere remains completely peaceful. Police have also been deployed outside the hostel. It is being told that after the defeat at the hands of Pakistan, a debate started between the students of both the hostels late on Sunday night. The debate escalated to such an extent that it turned into a fight and stone pelting. On information, along with the Proctorial Board, the police and the District Magistrate of the Lanka police station also reached. After which the matter was pacified by persuading the students.

Significantly, on Sunday evening, the Super Four match of the Asia Cup was played between India and Pakistan in Dubai. Batting first, India scored 181 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan achieved this target in 19.5 overs by losing five wickets. This was India’s second defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the Asia Cup after 2014.
