Washington: America’s Foreign Minister Antony Blinken has said that there is a gross violation of human rights all over the world. Blinken said countries that respect human rights are more likely to support the rules-based international system that the US and its allies have created.
“The trend of human rights is moving in the wrong direction,” Blinken said on Tuesday, releasing the annual report of the State Department on the Human Rights Assessment of the countries. We see evidence of this in every region of the world. ” “We see this as a massacre against the Uygar and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang,” he said.
He also referred to attacks on opposition leaders, anti-corruption activists, independent journalists in countries such as Russia, Uganda and Venezuela. Blinken said the United States is committed to working closely with its allies and partners to hold the perpetrators of these abusive acts responsible.
He said the human rights situation had worsened due to Covid-19 as autocratic governments used it to target their critics and violate human rights.
