Los Angeles: Famous American painter Wayne Thiebaud Death has passed away. He was 101 years old. Thibaud’s gallery Aquavela confirmed his death in a statement on Sunday but did not give details of the cause and time of his death.
Thibaud was born in Mesa, Arizona in 1920 and grew up in Sacramento, California. He began his career as an animator for Walt Disney and later worked as a poster designer and commercial artist in California and New York before becoming an illustrator.
He was also a longtime professor at the University of California at Davis. He officially retired in 1991 but continued to teach one class a year. “Despite being 101, he used to spend a lot of time in the studio,” his gallery said in a statement.
