New Delhi: Reliance Group of businessman Mukesh Ambani secretly took a big decision. Reliance Group’s Reliance Retail has shut down Geomart’s grocery delivery service Geomart Express. The website of Jio Mart Express is inactive and no one can download the Jio Mart Express app. Goods are being made available to those who have already placed online orders through Geomart Express.
Launched in 200 cities of the country
Reliance’s Jio platform has entered into a partnership agreement with Meta Inc., the parent company of WhatsApp. Under this agreement, Geomart was given the option to use it through WhatsApp. Later in March 2022 Geomart Express was launched. Geomart Express was launched in 200 cities in the country. Initially Geomart Express created a great atmosphere. But within a few months, Geomart Express lagged behind other home delivery service providers.
Many companies are investing in commerce platforms
After this, it was decided to shut down Geomart Express. An official of Reliance Retail has confirmed the news regarding Geomart Express. Geomart Express was a pilot project that was launched targeting select users. The company’s digital commerce business in grocery is taking a different turn. JioMart is still available in more than 350 cities across the country. Many companies in the market are investing heavily in commerce platforms.
