New Delhi: The historic consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya has sparked a renewed interest in the epic saga of Ramayana across the country. To cater to this demand, Doordarshan has decided to telecast the iconic Ramayana serial for the third time on its national channel. The serial, which was first aired in 1987, made a comeback during the COVID-19 lockdown and broke several viewership records. Now, the public broadcaster is gearing up to relaunch the show once again.

Doordarshan announced this news on its official Twitter handle by sharing a video clip of the serial. The tweet read, ‘The supernatural mythological story of religion, love, and charity is coming once again, the most popular show of entire India ‘Ramayana’, watch Ramayana on DD National soon.’ The serial, which was directed by Ramanand Sagar, featured Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Deepika Chikhaliya as Mother Sita, Sunil Lahiri as Lakshman, Arvind Trivedi as Ravana and late actor Dara Singh as Hanuman. Their stellar performances immortalized the characters of Ramayana in the hearts of millions of Indians.
