Queen Elizabeths coffin

London: The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly prepared more than three decades ago. The Queen’s coffin was made at least 32 years ago from English oak wood, which is a rarity nowadays. Now, most wooden coffins are made from American oak. It is made of glass all around, a royal tradition that helps to preserve the dead body for a long time after it is buried in the tomb.

According to the news agency AFP, it is said that the glass makes the coffin airtight, which helps prevent moisture from getting inside, but it becomes quite heavy. Eight pallbearers are needed to move the coffin. It matches another made for Prince Philip, the late Queen’s husband who died last year and was buried in the tomb.

Unique Hai Features
The coffin is specially designed to hold the precious fittings securely on its lid. It consists of the Imperial State Crown, the Orb and the Scepter, which represent various aspects of the Emperor’s powers. According to a report in The Times, the brass handles on the coffin are also specially designed for the royal coffin.

Last journey
The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, where she died, was revealed for the first time on Sunday. The coffin was covered with a wreath of white heather, dahlias, and sweet peas from the gardens of the Scottish Royal Standard and Balmoral Estate. It stayed at Holyroodhouse’s palace in the Scottish capital Edinburgh on Sunday night.

Queen Elizabeth’s body will arrive at Westminster Hall in London by Wednesday after traveling in an open coffin carriage on Monday.
