Pune to Mumbai bus fell into the ditch

Raigad: 13 people were killed and around 25 were injured when a bus fell into a ditch in the Khopoli area of Raigad, Maharashtra. The SP of Raigarh said that the rescue operation is going on at the spot. It is being told that this horrific road accident happened on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. A private bus fell into a ditch at Borghat on this highway. This bus was coming from Pune to Mumbai. There were a total of 40-45 passengers on the bus. It was told that this major accident happened due to the driver losing control of the bus. The rescue team and Raigad police have reached the spot. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

This incident happened on the Pune-Raigarh border in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra. In the early hours of Saturday, perhaps the driver of this bus lost control of the bus and fell into the ditch. This bus was going from Pimple Gurav in Pune to Goregaon. At the time of the accident, most of the 45 passengers on the bus were injured. Raigarh SP Somnath Gharge told the media that police and rescue officials reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received. Rescue work was started immediately. Ambulances and police vehicles were seen standing on the side of the road near the place where this horrific accident took place.

Significantly, according to the data of Maharashtra’s Economic Survey 2022-23, the state has reported 33,069 road accidents in 2022-23. Due to this 14,883 people died and 27,218 people were injured. On the contrary, there has been a decrease in road accidents in Mumbai. There were 1,773 road accidents in Mumbai in 2022-23, in which 272 people died and 1,620 others were injured. Last year (2021-22), there were 2,214 road accidents in Mumbai, in which 387 people died and 1,944 were injured. While there has been a 12 percent increase in road accidents this year in Maharashtra as compared to last year, Mumbai has seen a decline of 19 percent.
