New Delhi: In a surprising twist, Aurangzeb Alamgir, the main accused in the case of the deadly attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir, in 2019, has been kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen from Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday. Aurangzeb, who is a member of the banned terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), was on the run from the Indian authorities and had a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

According to the reports, Aurangzeb was riding a bike from Hafizabad to Dera Ghazi Ghulam, when he was intercepted and abducted by some armed men in a car. His bike was later found abandoned in a deserted area. The identity and motive of the kidnappers are not yet known. The Pakistani authorities have not confirmed or denied the incident.

Aurangzeb, who hails from Bahawalpur, was the mastermind behind the Pulwama attack, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel on February 14, 2019. He had orchestrated the suicide bombing by Adil Ahmad Dar, a local Kashmiri youth, who rammed his explosive-laden car into a CRPF bus near Lethpora in Pulwama district. The attack was one of the worst terrorist incidents in the history of India and triggered a strong response from the Indian government, which carried out air strikes on JeM camps in Balakot, Pakistan, on February 26, 2019.

Aurangzeb was also involved in the financing and recruitment of JeM terrorists in Pakistan and Kashmir. He used to collect funds from various sources in Pakistan and send them to Kashmir through hawala channels and couriers. He also collaborated with the ISI, the Pakistani intelligence agency, to infiltrate Afghan terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir through the Line of Control (LoC).

The kidnapping of Aurangzeb has raised several questions and speculations about the possible involvement of rival terrorist groups, disgruntled ISI agents, or even Indian intelligence operatives. The Indian government has not commented on the matter, but sources said that they are closely monitoring the situation and hoping to get more information about Aurangzeb’s whereabouts and activities.
