New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu from 17 to 19 September to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain and offer condolences from the Government of India. The president will travel to London. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Wednesday. Queen Elizabeth II died on 8 September.
President Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condoled the death of the Queen. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar went to the British High Commission here on 12 September and expressed condolences on behalf of India. India had also declared a day of national mourning on Sunday on the death of the Queen. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during the 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, India-UK relations have grown and deepened.
As head of the Commonwealth, he played a vital role in the welfare of millions of people around the world. Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8 at the age of 96. He will be cremated with state honors on September 19.
