Indore: With the increase in the prevalence of electric vehicles in the city, the administration has made preparations to build charging stations for it. Five stations have been completed while 115 stations will be ready soon. In the budget, the MP government has approved the construction of 217 EV charging stations across the state, out of which the maximum is to be built in Indore.
AICTSL CEO Sandeep Soni said that at present about five stations including our AICTSL campus, municipal corporation, smart city, electricity company are ready, while efforts are being made for the rest. Soni said that in the first phase, 76 of the EV charging stations are planned on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. In which the help of a private company Delta will be taken. While the remaining 37 stations will be set up under an agreement with Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL). Most of these EV charging stations will be set up in the main and busy areas of the city including main markets like Rajwada, Siyaganj, Jawahar Marg, Juni Indore, Hathipala, Gaadi Adda, Loha Mandi, etc.
Three types of stations will be built
Officials said that three types of stations will be built for charging electric vehicles-
- The AC 001 will be a slow charger that will come with a capacity of five kW and will charge three vehicles at a time.
- The DC 001 is a slow/fast charger that will come with 15 kW capacity and will allow one vehicle to be charged at a time.
- There will be Chademo charger, with a capacity of 122 kW and super fast charging of three vehicles at a time.
These charging stations are planned to provide charging facilities for electric vehicles, including both commercial and personal.
Growing trend
According to the information, after the increase in the prices of petroleum products in recent times, people’s tendency towards EVs has increased. People are taking this vehicle. Along with this, electric vehicles are being made on a large scale in Pithampur, Sanwer Road area, after which they need for this has started being felt. At the same time, in order to reduce pollution in the city, the district administration is planning to stop diesel-run commercial vehicles from the city markets and run electric vehicles in its place.
