Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain till Saturday, which may bring some relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions in Maharashtra. Meteorologists said that the day temperature is also likely to drop marginally during the next three days.

Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha during Thursday and Saturday said a bulletin issued by the IMD. , Washim and Yavatmal districts will see thunderstorms, while Parbhani and Hingoli are likely to receive rain on Friday and Saturday. If it rains, it will be the first pre-monsoon rain in the state this year.

Drought in most parts of the state
Maharashtra usually receives one or two good rains and occasional hailstorms during March and April in North Central Maharashtra and Marathwada districts, but this year, about ten days earlier, in Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Aurangabad, Dhule, and Jalgaon districts. Barring a few light spots of rain, the state has been mostly dry. The rainfall in Maharashtra in March was minus 76 percent and on April 19, the situation was minus 70 percent.

Meteorologists say that although cloud formation and moisture loss have occurred. The condition of thunderstorms has not been fulfilled, which is why the state has not received any significant rainfall so far this season. Marathwada and Vidarbha regions have not received pre-monsoon rains so far, in the absence of which these districts remain dry. Presently, North or Northwesterly winds are affecting the state. Moreover, this area is under the influence of a trough that is lying between Telangana and South Tamil Nadu.
