
New Delhi: According to big news, Jaisalmer Police has arrested former State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Pratip Chaudhary in a loan scam case. This information has been given by Jaisalmer police station SP Dr. Ajay Singh.
According to news reports, the case pertains to properties owned by the Godawan Group, which had taken a loan of Rs 24 crore from SBI in 2008 to build a hotel. Chowdhary is accused of selling properties worth Rs 200 crore for Rs 25 crore when the bank seized the properties in lieu of loans.
In this case, the police have said that Godavan Group had taken a loan of Rs 24 crore from SBI in 2008 to build the hotel. At this time another hotel of the group was functioning. But later when the group was unable to repay the loan, the hotel was declared a non-performing asset (NPA). After which the bank confiscated both the hotels.
Let us inform you that Pratip Chaudhary was the chairman of SBI then. After this, both the hotels were sold to Alchemist ARC company for Rs 25 crore. According to the news of Times of India, Alok Dhir of Alchemist ARC Company managed to escape.

The hotels were acquired by Alchemist ARC Company in the year 2016. When an assessment was done in 2017, it was found that the total market value of the property was Rs 160 crore, which today has a market value of Rs 200 crore. The Godawan company had moved the court to sell the property at a lower valuation.
Let us tell you that Choudhary’s tenure as the 23rd chairman of SBI ended in September 2013. At the same time, it has been learned that Chaudhary had joined Alchemist ARC Company as a director after retiring from SBI. Arrest warrant issued. The Chief Judicial Magistrate in Jaisalmer has issued arrest warrants against former chairman Pratip Chaudhary and seven others. He will be brought to Jaisalmer on Monday.
