Part of the Special Economic Package
In addition to financial help from India, the construction of this building has also been provided for infrastructure. This new building of the Supreme Court is part of the special economic package ($ 353 million) given by India in 2016. This new building of the Supreme Court is spread over an area of 4700 square meters. All the departments related to the Supreme Court of the country will work together in this building.
Metro Express operation inaugurated
Earlier in October 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Metro Express operation and a new ENT hospital in Mauritius through video conferencing. Then PM Modi said that both India and Mauritius are vibrant democracies. Together, the two countries are committed to working for peace in the world.
India-Mauritius Relations
Significantly, Mauritius is called an India far away from India. Many people of Indian origin have been heads of state in Mauritius. The current Prime Minister Praveen Jagannath is also of Indian origin. The bilateral relations between India and Mauritius have always been cordial. In the present Narendra Modi government, serious efforts have been made to improve this relationship further. The special economic package is a part of that.
