Islamabad: In a significant move to boost the morale of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declared a substantial reward of USD 100,000 for each player should they emerge victorious in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup scheduled for June in the Americas.
The PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, made this announcement during a comprehensive two-hour session with the team members, emphasizing the board’s commitment to the sport and the nation’s expectations from the players. The meeting took place just before the team departed for the T20 series against Ireland and England.
Naqvi underscored the symbolic value of the World Cup trophy over the monetary reward, expressing his confidence in the team’s ability to hoist the Pakistani flag high on the global stage. He encouraged the players to focus solely on their performance and teamwork, assuring them that with dedication and unity, triumph would follow.
The PCB chief’s address to the squad was not just about incentives; it was also a celebration of their achievements. Special commemorative shirts were presented to wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for surpassing 3,000 T20 runs and to fast bowler Naseem Shah for claiming his 100th T20 wicket, marking their significant contributions to the sport.
As the T20 World Cup approaches, the cricketing community is also keeping a keen eye on the IPL 2024. Fans are eagerly following the race for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap, denoting the top run-scorer and wicket-taker of the season, respectively. The IPL 2024 is well underway, with enthusiasts tracking the complete schedule, points table, and standout performances including the most sixes, fours, and fifties.
The PCB’s announcement has undoubtedly set a high bar for the team, instilling a sense of pride and responsibility as they prepare to represent Pakistan on the international stage. With the world watching, the players are not just competing for the prize money but also for national glory and the chance to make history.
