Sports legends such as Zinedine Zidane, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams joined pop icons like Lady Gaga and Aya Nakamura in an unforgettable celebration. The event, which took place in front of a global audience, was inaugurated by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and Paris 2024 Chief Tony Estanguet.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony was held outside a traditional stadium setting. Instead, the French organizers orchestrated a breathtaking parade along the scenic Seine River. National contingents waved to enthusiastic fans from boats, creating a picturesque and innovative start to the Games.
The ceremony began at the Austerlitz Bridge and concluded near the Trocadero, with the iconic Eiffel Tower serving as a stunning backdrop. Representing India, table tennis champion Sharath Kamal and ace badminton player PV Sindhu proudly carried the national flag, leading a confident 117-member Indian contingent.
