Srinagar: Tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir have escalated once again as Pakistani-backed terrorist infiltration attempts surge in the region. Over the past few days, security forces have confronted a growing number of terrorist incidents, with heightened activity reported in several sectors. Late Saturday night, yet another infiltration bid by a Pakistani terrorist was thwarted by Indian security forces in the Uri sector of Baramulla, North Kashmir.
In a late-night operation, the Indian Army neutralized a Pakistani terrorist attempting to cross the LoC under the cover of darkness. The incident occurred in the Kamalkot area, a known hotspot for cross-border infiltration. As soon as the attempt was detected, the army swung into action, eliminating the threat before it could escalate. Following the encounter, the entire area has been cordoned off, and a massive search operation is underway to ensure no other terrorists have managed to infiltrate.
According to sources, the operation was carried out by the local police in collaboration with the 8 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), a battalion specializing in counter-terrorism operations. Due to the nighttime conditions, the security forces exercised extreme caution, employing night-vision equipment and heightened surveillance to prevent any casualties on their side. The alertness and swift response of the army ensured that the infiltration attempt was swiftly dealt with, averting a potential attack.
This latest incident underscores the persistent threat of cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. Despite ceasefire agreements and international pressure, terrorist groups continue to use the porous border in Kashmir to launch attacks. The Pakistani side of the LoC, particularly the areas bordering Baramulla and Uri, remains a hotbed of militant activity. Supported by local sympathizers, these militants make repeated attempts to breach Indian defenses, only to be met with decisive retaliation from the Indian forces.

The Indian Army has maintained a proactive stance in Kashmir, conducting regular search-and-destroy operations to counter infiltration attempts. As terrorists continue to exploit the rugged terrain and local support, security forces are on high alert, ensuring that any infiltration bid is met with force. Recent intelligence reports suggest an increase in terrorist movements near the Pakistan border, prompting heightened vigilance and round-the-clock patrols along the LoC.
