Reports in Pakistani media said on Friday that more than 8 million acres of crops have been destroyed due to the floods. Apart from this, more than 33 million people have also been displaced.
According to the newspaper ‘The News International’, on a quick assessment of the damage caused by the floods in Pakistan, the government has found that this loss will be around $ 18 billion. One-third of the country is affected by floods. According to this news, the damage caused by this flood to Pakistan may increase further.
In fact, earlier the crop sown in 42 lakh acres was estimated to be damaged, but the new estimate is about 82.5 lakh acres of the crop being destroyed.
According to the report, many crops including cotton, and paddy have suffered significant damage and if the flood water is not properly drained, then it can also affect the sowing of wheat. Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Food Security has been entrusted with the task of preparing the details regarding raising the minimum support price of wheat.
