Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government issued an order to ensure an adequate supply of oxygen to the patients of Covid-19, to the manufacturers of this life-saving gas, 90 percent of their production for medical use. Instructions have been given to reserve for The State Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday issued an order to this effect.
The order states, “All transporters of liquid oxygen, manufacturing plants of oxygen gas and oxygen re-fillers in Madhya Pradesh will provide 90 percent of their production for medical use.” It states that the remaining ten percent oxygen can be given for industrial or other use only.
A company called Inox used to supply oxygen to Madhya Pradesh from a plant in Nagpur Maharashtra. After the Maharashtra government banned gas transportation, there was a shortage of oxygen in the state. After this, last week, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackarey and urged him not to stop the supply of oxygen for the treatment of serious patients of Covid-19. Assured Chauhan to maintain Madhya Pradesh supplies.
The Public Relations Department of the state had recently told that Madhya Pradesh needs 110 tonnes of oxygen per day due to increase in cases of Covid-19.
The Chief Minister said, “We have also made alternative arrangements. Initially, the availability of oxygen in Madhya Pradesh was only 50 tonnes, which has now been increased to 120 tonnes and by September 30, we will be able to arrange 150 tonnes of oxygen. Only they are able to make oxygen. We have urged them to run the plant at full capacity so that oxygen availability can increase further.
Chauhan said that as part of the long-term plan, we have approved the INAX company to set up an oxygen plant at Muhasa near Babai in Hoshangabad. This plant will be set up in the next six months with a capacity to produce 200 tonnes of oxygen.
