New Delhi: Comedian Kunal Kamra has refused to apologize for the alleged contempt of the Supreme Court. Attorney General KK Venugopal had approved to initiate of contempt proceedings against Kamra. The comedian has written a letter to the Supreme Court judges and Venugopal. Kamara has defended himself, saying that whatever tweets he made were “my opinion on the discriminatory judgment of the Supreme Court in favor of the prime time loudspeaker (Arnab Goswami).” He said he would neither apologize nor advocate. He said that he has got an audience like ‘Supreme Court judges and the biggest legal officer in the country, he is probably the most VIP.’

What has Kunal Kamra written?
In his letter, Kamra writes, “Dear Judges, Mr. KK Venugopal, the tweets I have made recently have been described as contempt of court. I had an attitude towards a biased decision. I think I have to admit that I enjoy courting and I like a good audience. Audiences like Supreme Court judges and the country’s top legal officials are probably the most VIP. I understand that wherever I perform, it will be rare to find time before the Supreme Court. “

Kamra further writes, “My opinion has not changed as the silence of the Supreme Court on matters of personal liberty of others cannot pass without criticism. I do not intend to withdraw my tweets or apologize for them. I think that They make this statement themselves. I hope to have time to hear my contempt petition, other cases and persons who are not as lucky as me (at least 20 hours if you keep in mind the hearing of Prashant Bhushan). Can I suggest that there is a great need for hearing in petitions related to denomination, petitions against the decision to cancel the special record of J&K, petitions challenging the legality of electoral bonds and many other such cases. If I twist Harish Salve’s words a little, I will say, “If more important matters get my time, will the sky burst?”

Kamara wrote at the end of the letter, “The Supreme Court has not declared anything to my tweets so far but whenever they do, I hope they will laugh a little before declaring contempt of court. In one of my tweets, I The Supreme Court had asked to put a photo of Harish Salve in place of Mahatma Gandhi. I would like to add that the photo of Pandit Nehru should be removed and the photo of Mahesh Jethmalani should be added. “
