New York: New mutants of the largest infectious variant of Corona, the Omicron variant, have worried scientists around the world. This mutant has been found in 56% of patients in the New York area. In this way, it is made from the first variant of the corona, Omicron, but American scientists have described it as the fastest spreading infection. US Omicron’s new mutant BA.2.12.1 was responsible for 29% of new COVID-19 infections nationally last week, according to data reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday.
Scientists have said that due to its speed, it has reached 13 other countries so far. It is a descendant of the earlier super-infectious ‘Stealth Omicron’. It has made its reached many states of America in a very short time. Most of the cases of this variant have been found in the US itself. Eli Rosenberg of the New York State Department of Health says that cases are increasing in places with increasing levels of BA.2.12.1. such as Central New York.
Is giving some suggestion about it making it compete with others. It appears that a similar pattern will likely follow nationally, says Kirsten St. George, director of virology at the Wadsworth Center Laboratory in New York State. Scientists are trying to explore other aspects of BA.2.12.1, including whether the vaccine is as effective against it as previous variants.
