
New Delhi: DD Sports will telecast live Tokyo Olympics every day while other channels of Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) will telecast special programs on the event of these global games. The Tokyo Olympic Games will begin on 23 July.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on Wednesday, “Prasar Bharati will cover the Olympics 2020 through Doordarshan and All India Radio’s own network and dedicated sports channel DD Sports. Broadcasts related to these games will continue “from pre-Olympics to the aftermath” and will be available nationwide on the public broadcaster’s television, radio and digital platforms.
“Various sports events in the Olympics will be telecast live on DD Sports from 5 am to 7 pm daily,” the ministry said. “The details will be made available on the Twitter handles of DD Sports and AIR Sports every day,” he said.
The ministry said that DD Sports will produce a discussion-based program of over four hours with sports personalities before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, which will contribute to the ‘Cheer for India’ campaign.

According to the program schedule shared by the ministry, AIR Capital Station, FM Rainbow Network, DRM (AIR’s Digital Radio) and other stations of AIR will broadcast a ‘Curtain-Razor’ program on Tokyo Olympics on 22 July. “The program will also be broadcast on YouTube channel, DTH and ‘NewsOnAIR’ mobile app within the territory of India,” the ministry said.
Daily headlines will be telecast on All India Radio from 23rd July. Whereas on FM Rainbow periodic notifications will be broadcast from 24th July. “Whenever India wins a medal, breaking news may also be broadcast on FM channels,” the ministry said. “AIR will telecast ‘off-tube commentary’ of selected hockey matches and select badminton matches,” he said.
