The oldest train in India is the Punjab Mail train. This train has been taking people to their destination for 110 years. This train was started on 1 June 1912. Since then this train is helping people to reach their destination. This train completed 110 years on 1st June this year. Even today the speed of this train is 110 kilometers per hour.

In the year 1912, India was ruled by the British. At that time this train used to run between Ballard Pier Mole station at the port of Mumbai and Peshawar. At that time this was the only train that ran from Peshawar to Mumbai.

Initially, only English officers and British employees used to travel on this train. But, in 1930 this train was opened to all. However, this train was shortened after the separation of India and Pakistan in 1947. After this ‘Punjab Mail Train’ started running from Firozpur in Punjab to Mumbai. The ‘Punjab Mail Train’ ran on coal and covered a distance of 2496 km from Mumbai to Peshawar in 47 hours.
