New Delhi: The number of rich has increased continuously in India even during the Corona period. The number of very wealthy people in the country with assets of 30 million US dollars (about Rs 226 crore) or more increased by 11 percent last year. Knight Frank, who consults about real estate, has said this in his report. According to the report, this increase in the number of very wealthy people was due to the boom in the stock markets and the digital revolution.
India ranks third in the population of billionaires globally in 2021. The US ranks first with 748 billionaires, followed by China with 554 billionaires. India ranks third with 145 billionaires.
The Wealth Report 2022
Wealth consultant Knight Frank said in his latest edition of ‘The Wealth Report 2022’ that the number of super-rich globally increased by 9.3 percent to 6,10,569 in 2021 from 5,58,828 in the previous year. Knight Frank said in a statement, “The number of very wealthy people (net worth of US$30 million or more) in India grew by 11 percent year-on-year in 2021.”
The highest growth in Bangalore
According to the report, the number of rich with a high net worth in India was 13,637 in 2021 from 12,287 in the previous year. The largest increase in the number of extremely wealthy people was seen in Bangalore. There their number increased by 17.1 percent to 352. It was followed by Delhi (up 12.4 percent to 210) and Mumbai (up to nine percent to 1,596).
Asia’s contribution of 36 percent
In the billionaires club, Asia continues to lead the way, contributing 36 percent of the world’s billionaires in 2021. India ranks third in terms of billionaire population in 2021 after the US and China. For the first time, Knight Frank has examined the size of the ‘next generation of the world’s UHNWI population. Also, it has assessed what this could mean for the property markets.
