New Delhi: The Election Commission is working on a plan to convert the voter card into digital format soon. In easy terms, voters will now be able to keep the voter ID card in digital format like Aadhaar Cards. However the existing physical card will also remain with the voters. Existing voter cardholders will get this facility only through KYC (Voter Helpline) app. The objective of the Election Commission is to make the facility of Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) easily available to voters.
The new system will prove beneficial for service voters
After the decision of the Election Commission, new voters can download their voter card from the Internet. Not only this, through this digital card, they can also use their franchise. Apart from this, voters will also get rid of the problems caused by the delay in getting the voter card. At the same time, it will prove to be very beneficial for the service voters recorded in the Election Commission records. Service voters can download in EPIC digital format after this decision.
Overseas voters will also get digital card facility
After the decision of the Commission, Overseas Voters registered in the record can also avail the digital voter card facility. However, voting facility has not been provided to Indians living abroad. The Election Commission has sent a proposal regarding this to the Central Government. Overseas Indians are also not issued voter cards. After the decision of the Election Commission, overseas voters will also be able to download their EPIC ie Digital Voter Card. If a voter has shifted to another place and he wants to become a voter of a new place, then by following the necessary procedure, through this facility, one can download a new voter card.
Will be able to vote based on the QR code given in the card
If a voter has lost his physical card and has applied for a new card and has got the approval, then he can download the digital card. The digital voter card will have two QR codes (QR). Based on the information of this code, voters will be able to vote through the voter card downloaded from the Internet. In these, a QR code will contain the voter’s name, father’s name, age, sex and information related to the voter’s photo. At the same time, the second QR code will contain the voter’s address, other than the serial number in the voter list. Preparation of Election Commission for digital voter card is complete. After this seal, this facility will be available to voters before the next year’s state assembly elections.
