New Delhi: If you like to eat in hotels or restaurants often, then there is bad news for you. In fact, the Delhi High Court has now lifted the ban on charging service charges to hotels and restaurants. It is worth noting that before this, on July 4, CCPA had put a ban on charging service charges in restaurants through the guideline. After which the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) challenged this decision in the high cart.
In this regard, today i.e. on Wednesday, Justice Yashwant Verma, while hearing the petitions of NRAI and Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), challenging the CCPA’s guidelines of July 4, said that, needs to be considered deeply. Along with this, he has also asked the officials to file their replies in this matter.

It is noteworthy that the CCPA (Central Consumer Protection Authority) had said in its order that, service charges cannot be charged to customers in hotels and restaurants by any other name. At the same time, hotels cannot add it to the food bill.
