New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several announcements in the Budget 2022 to promote digitization. These also include the digitization of land records. Under the One Nation One Registration program, the government has geared up to prepare a digital record of lands by 2023. In this, preparations are being made to give a Unique Registered Number-URN to every land or farm. This number can be 14 digits.
With this unique number (URN), any person will not only be able to see the complete record of his land online but will also be able to download it. This will make it easier for people to get their land papers. At the same time, this URN can also be used in many schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan yojna).
Portal will be built, the land will be measured by drone
The central government will create a portal to collect the entire land data of the country in a digital format in one place. All the data will be available on this digital portal only. Any person will be able to extract its information by entering the Unique Registered Number of his land on this portal. This number can also be called the Aadhaar number of the land.
Through the One Nation, One Registration program, the government will measure the land with the help of drones. There will be no possibility of any mistake or disturbance from the land measurement from the drone. After this, this measurement will be made available on the government digital portal. It is worth mentioning that in Haryana, the state government has done the measurement of houses and plots in the village with drones to make the village red tap free. The use of drones has been very successful in this.
Benefits
With the URN, any person will be able to easily see the complete details and documents of his land. With this, common people will not have to make rounds of the Tehsil to get the documents. There will also be transparency in buying and selling land. In many schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, land information has to be given and land-related documents have to be uploaded. In such schemes, the URN will be useful only later and there will be no need to provide documents.
