The company is currently launching it in the US under the name Amazon Pharmacy. Amazon’s move is expected to hit US drug retailers Walgreens, CVS and Walmart hard.

Amazon has launched an online pharmacy service in the U.S. called Amazon Pharmacy to facilitate the purchase of prescription medicine online. Amazon plans to launch an online pharmacy worldwide soon. Customers will also get the facility to compare the price of medicine before buying the medicine on the website of Amazon Pharmacy or its app. This will enable the customer to buy medicines at cheaper prices from the supplier who is selling cheap medicines.
The company will give a hefty discount to the loyalty club members
Amazon Loyalty Club members will also get hefty discounts on medicines. Amazon stated that the company had been working for two years for home delivery of prescription-based medicine in the United States. During this time the company obtained licenses for medicine delivery from all U.S. states and formed a supply chain. U.S. market research firm JD Power says that Amazon’s path in this field will not be easy, as it will have to compete with many companies, including drug retailers Walgreens, CVS Health, Walmart, Wright Aid, and Korger.
Amazon Pharmacy has to face challenges
According to JD Power, orders for online delivery of medicine in the U.S. also fall short. In this case, Amazon Pharmacy will face huge challenges. However, JD Power also stated that coronavirus has led to an increase in online drug purchases in the United States. On the other hand, Amazon will give a hefty discount to its prime members.
