In this, he said, “Today we are starting Samvad (Communities) on WhatsApp. This will make groups better because sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels can be created, and much more. We are also introducing the poll key within the chat and the facility to video call up to 32 people simultaneously. All these are secured through end-to-end encryption and the privacy of your messages will be maintained.”

The company announced these features in April and now they are being rolled out. These features will be available to all users in the next few weeks. WhatsApp has been working on the Communities feature for several months now. The feature is now rolling out to all users on iOS as well as Android platforms and will transform the way people connect with one another on WhatsApp. “Communities like neighborhoods, parents at a school, and workplaces can now connect multiple groups together under one umbrella to organize group conversations on WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp said that with Communities it is aiming to “raise the bar for how organizations communicate with a level of privacy and security not found anywhere else.” “The alternatives available today require trusting apps or software companies with a copy of their messages – and we think they deserve the higher level of security provided by end-to-end encryption,” the platform added. The Communities feature will be available for everyone in the months to come.
