Kabul: After the withdrawal of US forces, the Taliban have occupied the whole of Afghanistan except the Panjshir Valley. Since Monday, a war is going on between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance to capture Panjshir. According to the latest report, Taliban fighters tried to infiltrate the Panjshir Valley on Tuesday night as well. The Taliban have also tried to block an escape route for Northern Alliance fighters by blowing up a bridge.

On the other hand, it has been claimed by the Northern Alliance that about 350 Taliban fighters who came to attack in Khawak last night have been killed. According to a claim made by the Northern Alliance on Twitter, more than 40 Taliban fighters have also been captured. During this time, the Northern Alliance has got many American vehicles, weapons.

Local journalist Naitik Malikzada has tweeted about the war in Panjshir. According to him, there has been an encounter between Taliban fighters and Northern Alliance fighters in the Gulbahar area at the entrance of Panjshir, Afghanistan. The Taliban has blown up a bridge here. This bridge was used to connect Gulbahar with Panjshir. Apart from this, many fighters of the Northern Alliance have been arrested.

Where is Panjshir?
Located 150 km north of Kabul, the Panjshir Valley is close to the Hindukush mountains. To the north, the Panjshir river separates it. The northern area of Panjshir is also surrounded by the hills of Panjshir. At the same time, the hills of Kuhestan in the south surround this valley. These hills are covered with snow throughout the year. From this one can guess how inaccessible the area of Panjshir Valley is. The geography of this area becomes the biggest challenge for the Taliban.

His son Ahmed Masood has raised the flag of protest from this area, once the stronghold of Sher Ahmed Shah Masood of Panjshir. They are giving war training to the people. He is also accompanied by Amrullah Saleh, who was the Vice President in the Ashraf Ghani government.

Till now no one has won Panjshir
The Soviet Union’s rule in the 1980s, then during the first Taliban rule in the 1990s, Ahmed Shah Masood did not allow this valley to come under enemy occupation. Earlier Panjshir was part of Parwan Province. In 2004 it got the status of a separate province. If we talk about the population, then there is a majority of Tajik communities in this area with a population of 1.5 lakhs. After May, when the Taliban began to capture one area after another, many people took refuge in Panjshir. Since then, the Taliban is facing a constant challenge from here.
