Nissan India has strategically launched the Gravite B-MPV to capture the high-growth segment of family buyers transitioning from hatchbacks to larger utility vehicles. Despite its compact footprint designed for urban navigation, the Gravite boasts a rugged aesthetic with 182mm of ground clearance and sharp LED lighting. Its signature C-shaped accents and 15-inch styled steel wheels give it a modern, SUV-inspired stance.
The interior is designed for maximum utility, featuring 31 liters of smaller storage cubbies distributed throughout the cabin. For larger hauls, the Gravite offers a massive 625-liter boot. Keeping Indian summers in mind, Nissan has included a dual-AC setup with eight vents to ensure all three rows remain comfortable. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone upholstery, complemented by the debut of a sophisticated ‘Forest Green’ exterior paint option.
Tech-Forward Cabin and Safety Standards
Nissan has not compromised on technology for the budget segment. The Gravite features:
- Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity.
- Driver Display: A 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
- Convenience: Wireless mobile charging, push-button start, and cruise control.
Safety is a primary selling point for the Gravite. In a segment where safety is often an afterthought, Nissan provides 6 airbags, Hill Start Assist, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and front parking sensors as part of its “30 standard safety features” package.
Engine Performance and Variants
Under the hood, the Gravite is powered by a refined 1.0-liter, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.
- Power Output: 70 hp and 96 Nm of torque.
- Transmission: 5-speed Manual or a 5-speed EZ-Shift AMT.
- Efficiency: The manual variant returns 19.3 kmpl, while the AMT is slightly more efficient at 19.6 kmpl.
The vehicle is being offered in five distinct trim levels. While it currently launches as a petrol-only model, Nissan has confirmed that a factory-fitted CNG version is in the pipeline to cater to the mileage-conscious buyer.
Pricing, Warranty, and Future Roadmap
The Gravite debuts with a disruptive price of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 1,001 units of the base Visia trim. To sweeten the deal, Nissan is offering a 3-year or 1 lakh km standard warranty.
The Gravite is part of a broader “Nissan 2.0” strategy for India. It is the first of three India-specific models scheduled for release by early 2027. Following the Gravite, Nissan will launch the Tekton, a mid-sized 5-seater SUV, with a flagship large 7-seater SUV expected to arrive in 2027 to take on the premium segment.
