
New Delhi: Another gold medal has come into India’s account. Boxer Nikhat Zareen has won the gold medal in the women’s 48-50 kg weight category in boxing. She defeated Carly of Northern Ireland 5-0. This is India’s 48th medal in Commonwealth Games 2022 and third gold in boxing. Nikhat has won a medal for India in the Commonwealth Games for the first time.

Nikhat, 26, who has been in fine form, registered a 5-0 win over Northern Ireland’s Carle McNall in the light flyweight (48-50kg) event in a one-sided final. With this, India has won 49 medals so far in the Commonwealth Games 2022. This includes 17 gold, 13 silver, and 19 bronze medals.
