Niamey (Niger): People returning from a market in Niger were attacked by gunmen riding on motorcycles, killing at least 58 people. The Government of Niger gave this information. No one has claimed responsibility for this attack on Monday, but in the Tillaberi area where the villagers were attacked, terrorists of the ‘Islamic State in the Greater Sahara’ group often attack.
When people were returning from a large cattle market in Banyabangou, near the border of Mali and Niger, suspected militants attacked them and set fire to nearby food stores. In this regard, government spokesman Abdourahmane Zakaria on Tuesday gave information on the Nigerian government TV channel and announced a three-day national mourning for those killed in the attack. Earlier in January, 100 people were killed in an attack in two villages of the Tillaberi area. No terrorist organization had even claimed responsibility for this attack.
