New Delhi: The journey of crores of passengers traveling on expressways and national highways in the country will be better now. NHAI is going to make special arrangements to make people’s journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Under this, 600 roadside facility centers will be set up on the highway expenses. After this, people will not have to wander much for other necessary facilities including ATMs, Food Court, Rest Room, and Hospitals. To improve the travel experience on national highways, NHAI will develop wayside facilities at more than 600 places on national highways and expressways by FY 2024-25.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said, “Road facilities will be developed every 40-60 km of current and upcoming national highways and expressways.” Through these public facilities, passengers will get facilities for eating and drinking on a 20 to 30-minute drive.

According to this scheme of the National Highway Authority of India, fuel stations for passenger facilities on highways and expressways across the country, electric charging facilities, food courts, retail shops, bank ATMs, children’s play, medical clinics, childcare rooms, toilet, There are many facilities including vehicle repairing shop.
Earlier, NHAI allocated 160 facilities on the roadside, out of which about 150 have been prepared in the last 2 years. At the same time, there are plans to develop another 150 facilities in the next financial year. These facilities will be in the Greenfield Corridor like Amritsar-Bathinda-Jamnagar Corridor, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.
Currently, bids can be made for facility centers to be built on 75 Wayside (roadside) in some brownfield and greenfield corridors. These places are spread in eight states, including 27 in Rajasthan, 18 in Madhya Pradesh, 9 in Jammu and Kashmir, and 3 in Himachal Pradesh.

These facilities available on the roadside will make the travel experience of the people better and the facility of eating and drinking and resting on all the national highways will be available. There are a total of 599 highways in India with a length of about 1.32 lakh kilometers. The longest national highway in the country is NH 44, which starts from Srinagar to Kanyakumari and its length is 3745 km.
Apart from this, the expressway is being prepared on the highway and on a better line and they are proving more top in terms of facilities. Recently, with the introduction of the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, traveling on Delhi to Jaipur route has become easier. People’s travel experience has improved further due to reduced travel time and hi-tech facilities.
