Chandigarh: In the Fazilka district of Punjab, such a scene was seen on Friday that people were surprised to see. In the Bukainwala village here, a big storm (Tornado) caused havoc, due to which more than 50 houses in the area were destroyed. Apart from this, 10 people were injured in an area of three square km. Some were reported to be buried under the debris. BSF jawans have been deployed for rescue in the area. Two of the injured were sent to Faridkot Medical College, while the rest were sent to Abohar Civil Hospital.

According to a report in Indian Express, the tornado moved towards Pakistan and could be seen from several villages. Pradeep Singh, one of the villagers, said, “The tornado suddenly appeared in the sky around 4 pm and caused extensive damage in the area.” A video of the incident was widely shared on social media, with images of people from several villages Strong winds can be observed as a result of the tornado moving around.

Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Senu Duggal said, “There has been extensive damage in the village, and we are ascertaining the exact loss of houses and other property.” Most of the houses had their roofs blown off. Apart from people, many animals were also injured in the storm. Malwa districts of Punjab, such as Fazilka, Bathinda, and Muktsar, are known for heavy storms. However, such a large tornado is very rare.
