Lake formed in Rishiganga river

Dehradun: After the tragedy in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, scientists have discovered a lake in the Rishiganga river. After the tragedy, the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology visited the site where the glacier collapsed. During this, an aerial tour was also done, where they saw a large lake about 400 meters on the river Rishi Ganga. Due to which water is continuously leaking. After this, once again the flood crisis has started looming.

In fact, the place where the glacier broke and landslides occurred is the confluence of Rishiganga and Raini Nadi. A large number of soils and rocks fell from the mountain into the Rishiganga River, which stopped the stream of the river. Because of this 400 meters, long lake has been formed from there. According to geoscientists, this lake is dangerous or not.

The information was given by the District Magistrate of Chamoli district, Swati Bhadoria.
