Hyderabad: In the wake of the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, Andhra Pradesh has witnessed a significant political shift. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by Chandrababu Naidu, emerged victorious, securing a majority and paving the way for Naidu’s swift inauguration as Chief Minister. Within just three days of taking office, Naidu has launched a decisive crackdown on illegal constructions, starting with the removal of an encroachment attributed to former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation executed the removal of the unauthorized structure, which was reportedly built on public road space under the pretext of enhancing Reddy’s security. This move came after residents lodged complaints about the encroachment in the Lotus Pond area. While municipal officials have justified the action as a response to civic concerns, YSRCP supporters have decried it as a vindictive measure.

Despite this setback, Jagan Mohan Reddy remains optimistic about his party’s prospects. Addressing members of both houses of Parliament from his party, Reddy expressed confidence in YSRCP’s eventual return to power, citing their acquisition of over 40 percent of votes in recent elections.

However, the election results tell a story of YSRCP’s overwhelming defeat, with the party securing only 11 out of 175 assembly seats. In contrast, TDP’s landslide victory with 135 seats underscores Naidu’s strong mandate. The political landscape is further diversified with Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party claiming 21 seats and BJP securing 8 seats.

This narrative not only highlights the immediate actions taken by Chandrababu Naidu but also sets the stage for future political developments in Andhra Pradesh.
