Suez (Egypt): A cargo ship stranded in Suez Canal for nearly a week was successfully evacuated on Monday evening. It was a difficult challenge for the engineers to remove this ship about 400 meters long and 59 meters wide. But it is being said that apart from the cranes and the tug boat, the fourteenth Super Moon helped to lift this heavy ship out of the canal. An Ever Given vessel carrying the cargo between Panama and Asia was stranded in the canal near the city of Suez, carrying cargo between Asia and Europe. About 10 percent of the world’s trade is done by this canal.
After the ship got stuck last week, the concern of all the big engineers of the world was increased. Actually, after the ship got stuck, efforts were constantly being made to get it out. But success was not being achieved. This ship was stuck between big stones. It is said that about 950000 cubic fit of sand pushed it under 60 feet of water. In such a situation, when the engineers did not succeed in getting it out of the crane and tugboat, they all started waiting for the full moon night.
How did the ship come out of the supermoon?
While circling the Earth, there comes a time when the Moon is closest to the Earth. Due to being closer to the Earth, the Moon appears very big and bright during this time. This is called a supermoon. During this time, high tide increases in water due to gravity. Due to which the water level rises from one to one and a half feet. It is also called Spring Tide. This happens twice a month. Something similar happened in Suez Canal too. Due to the increase in the level of water, this ship started coming upwards automatically. So the engineers got help in pulling it.
How was the ship trapped?
At least 367 ships were stuck in the Suez Canal for the last week. Goods ranging from crude to cattle were being sent on these ships. The MV Ever Given Ship is the largest cargo ship in the world. The incident occurred when a sand ball rose on the banks of the 120-mile-long canal due to strong winds. This waterway is narrow. Due to the strong winds, the crew lost control of the ship and reached the sandy shore.
