
New Delhi: The most expensive city for expatriates in India is Mumbai. It is followed by New Delhi and Bengaluru. This information has been given in a report. According to Mercer’s ‘Cost of Living Survey-2023’, Mumbai is ranked 147th globally out of 227 cities across five continents. Mumbai is the costliest city for expatriates in India, while Hong Kong leads the list globally.
In the global ranking, Delhi is at 169th, Chennai at 184th, Bengaluru at 189th, Hyderabad at 202nd, Kolkata at 211th, and Pune at 213th. Mercer’s survey compares the prices of more than 200 goods and services at each location, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household items, and entertainment.
According to the report, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zurich are the most expensive cities globally for international workers this year. Havana comes in among the least expensive cities in the ranking. The devaluation of the currency in the middle of last year has caused Havana to drop 83 places. Apart from this, two other cheap cities in Pakistan are Karachi and Islamabad.

According to the report, the cost of living in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune among the Indian cities surveyed is less than 50 percent of Mumbai. Mumbai and Delhi are among the 35 most expensive cities in Asia for expatriates in 2023. However, Mumbai has slipped one place to 27th position among Asian cities compared to last year.
