Washington: US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) President Mukesh Aghi and Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) along with Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), three others in the US were honored with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman this year (Pravasi) Bharatiya Samman Award). Aghi, who formed the US-based American pro-business group a few years ago, received the honor in the business category.
Speaking on the occasion, Aghi said, “I am honored to receive this award. This is the team’s effort and even more, it underscores the importance of US-India relations. We have immense opportunities to further enhance this partnership under the Modi-Biden (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and America’s next President Joe Biden) administration which will benefit not only both countries but the entire world. ” Similarly, Indian American Arvind Pukhan has been conferred with the Indian Diaspora Award for promoting Indian culture while Neelu Gupta in the Environmental Technology category. At the same time, Dr. Sudhakar Jonnalagadda has received this honor in the category of medicine.
The Federation of Indian Associations (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) has been awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman for community service. “We are very proud and thankful to receive the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman,” said FIA President Anil Bansal. It is noteworthy that the FIA is one of the largest organizations of the Indian community in the US. India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu tweeted, “Congratulations to all the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards winners in America.” Significantly, the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awarded by the Government of India is the top honor given to NRIs and people of Indian origin for their achievement in various fields.
