New Delhi: Mira Nair was honored with the Jeff Schol Prize on Monday night at the Toronto International Film Festival ‘TIFF Tribute’ ceremony. The two-episode six-part series “A Suitable Boy” directed by Nair will conclude the 45th Toronto Film Festival on Saturday.
While giving the award to Nair, Tabu said, “When Meera Nair was a child, she used to ask herself if art can change the world?” He proved that it can be done. And thus he created a very high standard of cinema. “
In addition to Nair, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Kate Winslet, Chloe Zhao, Tracy Deere and Terence Blanchard were awarded the TIFF Tribute Award. On this occasion Nair said, “I enjoy when I work, so I thank the Toronto Film Festival for rewarding me for my enjoyment.”
